How to Enable Chrome On-Device AI (Gemini Nano)?▼
Built-in AI (Summarizer API) is stable starting from Chrome 138+. However, to force model download or enable it on older versions, certain settings and system requirements must be met:
- OS: Windows 10/11, macOS 13+ (Ventura+), or Linux.
- Storage: At least 22 GB free disk space (Automatically deleted if space falls below 10 GB).
- Hardware: GPU: >4 GB VRAM or CPU: >16 GB RAM & >=4 cores.
- Network: Unmetered/unlimited connection is required for initial download.
- Go to chrome://flags:chrome://flags
- Search and set the following features to "Enabled":#optimization-guide-on-device-model#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano#summarizer-api-for-gemini-nano
- Completely restart the browser.
